Kohimarama Primary School
The Main Block is a majestic fortress, protectively yet monumentally representing Kohimarama Primary School. Adams Architects were asked to transform the existing single cell classrooms into state-of-the-art open plan classrooms. We were excited to freshen up and renew the interior space, yet we were cautious to retain the historical character of the main building.
The upgraded teaching spaces are designed to complement the modern learning style of teaching. A combination of rooms with varying sizes equipped for varying functions makes for a fluid and interactive experience. Large glass sliding doors and windows to enhance the fluidity in the space optimizes air flow and natural space, subsequently creating a pleasantly comfortable environment for children to learn.
